amazing: armless guitar

I did not intend to be thematic today... but when I was looking for a graphic to use with today's story of the armless thief, I came across this video. This guy is incredible and worthy of a listen.

teenager quits school to become a Guitar Hero

Last week, a North Carolina teenager dropped out of high school so that he could chase his dream to become a famous rock star.

Well, kind of.

Actually, Blake Peebles dropped out of school so that he could devote all of his time to playing Guitar Hero. For those who are unschooled in this sort of thing, Guitar Hero is a video game in which the player pushes colored buttons on a fake guitar, imitating a rock star. (see picture)

So far, Peebles has won some gift certificates, game equipment and 52 Chick-fil-A meals in his newly acquired occupation. He hopes to become a professional gamer.

Want to know what is sadder than a kid who drops out of school to become a professional fake guitar player? The fact that, if all goes well, he could actually earn up to $80,000 per year if he wins all the competitions.

thief stuffs guitar into pants, walks away

I have posted several stories about stupid criminals. Here is one who may have been stupid, but it worked.

In Lewiston, ME a man stuck a full-sized Fender Stratocaster electric guitar (see picture) into his pants and successfully made it out of the store. Surveillance cameras showed the man shove the guitar into his pants while his two friends kept watch.

Even more remarkable is the fact that the same man tried the same trick back in 2006 and was caught while leaving the store.

of course, it wasn't too smart to do this trick in the same store as before... because now the police know exactly who they are looking for.
