SWAT team captures the Laughing Man

Recently, the emergency phone line in Elmstein, Germany, received a call from a woman who reported that someone was being tortured. She could hear someone in a nearby forest making the horrific noises of someone being tortured.

The police immediately responded to the site. They found that the noise had been coming from a parked car in the woods. After surrounding the car, they ordered the driver of the car to give himself up and immediately release his hostage.

Robert Hoffman, the man in the car, was more-than-a-little surprised. The horrible sound the woman had reported was Hoffman's laughter.

It seems he had gone out into the woods to find some "peace and quiet" and read a book. He thought the book was very funny... and didn't hold back on his laughter.

One officer who was present at the scene said, "We realize that people think the sound of Germans laughing is unusual, but we're sure the caller meant well."

There is no word on what book Hoffman was reading.
