bout of the grue (?)

without any safety devices, these guys make simple chin-ups very scary.

btw... what does the cryptic "ascension of the grue" and the "bout of the grue" mean? The "grue" is a reference to a fictional creature in the old Zork text adventure games that killed adventurers. It is also an archaic word for "shaky, scary." The "ascension of the grue" apparently means that they climbed "the monster." The "bout (fight) of the grue" means that these guys were taking on a scary task that could well have killed them. They got that right.
