The name of the product is "Shark Shield." It is an electronic device that surfers wear to protect themselves from shark attacks.
This week, Shark Shield was tested and demonstrated off the coast of South Africa. The test of the device went... umm, not very well.
The device was attached to a buoy and set in the water. A great white shark approached the device and promptly ate it. That's right, it bit the device right off the buoy.
The shark was so not-deterred by the device that some people are speculating that the sharks are actually drawn to the devices. This is probably not what the company had in mind.
