prisoner steals computer from jail

It is pretty certain that Willima* K. Bradley is not the brightest student at Western Michigan University. For that matter, he is not among the smartest criminals in Michigan, either.

On January 31st, a new computer was delivered to the Kalamazoo County Jail, where Bradly was serving time. Possibly thinking that a new computer would help him at college, Bradley decided to steal it.

Even Bradley realized that keeping a stolen computer in your cell is a little difficult. So, he took the computer, wrapped it in a plastic bag and hid it near some bins, planning to pick it up at a later date.

Unfortunately for Bradley, security cameras recorded the whole thing. Bradley was immediately arrested and charged with stealing a computer from the jail where he was being incarcerated.

At his trial, Judge Gary C. Giguere, Jr. said, "This is the dumbest crime I've heard today. It may be in the top half-dozen in my career... You need to get a handle on this theft thing, Your life of crime is not working out."

Despite Bradley's suggestion that he be sentenced to counseling sessions, Judge Giguere sentenced him to an additional 120 days in prison.

*this is the spelling of the name that appears in the article. It should probably be "William"... but you never know. :)
